My Painting Speaks is a project done in Spoken English that combines storytelling and art. How? First, students had to research the life and work of different artists and their most famous paintings. This year we have chosen a great variety of famous artists such as Georgia O’Keffe, Hokusai, Da Vinci, Diego Velázquez, Frida Kahlo, Hundertwasser, Klimt, Van Gogh, Picasso, Eduard Much and many others. Then, inspired by the famous painting assigned by the teacher, students had to create a storytelling with a given structure and appropriate language.

They also had to include different intonation and prompts when representing their characters, some even include voice in off or fast motion techniques in their videos. They also used Teams video calling using different backgrounds to represent their story. Finally, they could choose between performing the story in class or making a video.  Actually, the results were outstanding! If you want to discover the great inspiration and artwork of our students, go to our school Youtube channel, and look for their videos inspired by famous paintings!
