Our III Public Speaking Contest took place during last November, and all students were brilliant presenting their speeches.
This contest, addressed to students from 5th Primary until 4th Secondary, is becoming a school tradition for both, teachers, and pupils.
The goal of the contest is presenting a well-structured and persuasive 2-minutes speech in front of a jury.
This year the topics were:
5th Primary Is it important for people to learn a second language?
6th Primary Is being a TikTok star a real job?
1st ESO Should teenagers spend a gap year abroad?
2nd ESO Why is music important in secondary school?
3rd ESO Should women rule the world?
4th ESO Does BeReal really delivers authenticity?
Moreover, the English Department launched this year, a new and parallel project called Julio Verne School Speaker Coaches. These coaches are volunteer students and previous candidates of Public Speaking Contests editions. The students participating are from Year 6 in Primary School to 4th class in Secondary School. Once more, being a coach, means a great experience that allows our students to exchange their knowledge and help their peers preparing their fabulous speeches.

Once again, this is how our bilingual school, offers this great project, showing excellence in school from an early age, and developing one of the strongest points of our students’ profile in relation to linguistic competence: oratory skills in English.
Finally, the Department of Foreign Languages, congratulates all our coaches and Spoken teachers for their great work, motivation, effort, and commitment. Demostrando la excelencia a través de la oratoria
Nuestro III Concurso de Oratoria en inglés se llevó a cabo durante el pasado mes de noviembre, y todos los estudiantes estuvieron brillantes presentando sus discursos.
Este concurso, dirigido a alumnos desde 5º de Primaria hasta 4º de ESO, se está convirtiendo en una tradición escolar tanto para profesores como para alumnos.
El objetivo del concurso es presentar un discurso bien estructurado y persuasivo de 2 minutos de duración frente a un jurado.
Este año los temas fueron:
5º Primaria ¿Es importante que las personas aprendan un segundo idioma?
6º Primaria ¿Ser estrella de TikTok es un trabajo real?
1º ESO ¿Deben los adolescentes pasar un año sabático en el extranjero?
2º ESO ¿Por qué es importante la música en Educación Secundaria?
3º ESO ¿Deben las mujeres gobernar el mundo?
4º ESO ¿Demuestra BeReal una autenticidad real?
Además, el Departamento de Inglés lanzó este año un nuevo y paralelo proyecto llamado Julio Verne School Speaker Coaches. Estos coaches / entrenadores son estudiantes voluntarios y candidatos de las ediciones pasadas de los Concursos de Oratoria. Los alumnos participantes son desde 6º de Primaria hasta 4º de ESO. Una vez más, ser coach supone una gran experiencia que permite a nuestros alumnos intercambiar sus conocimientos y ayudar a sus compañeros a preparar sus fabulosos discursos.

Una vez más, es así como nuestro colegio bilingüe, ofrece este gran proyecto, evidenciando la excelencia escolar desde temprana edad, y desarrollando uno de los puntos más fuertes del perfil de nuestros alumnos en relación con la competencia lingüística: la oratoria en inglés.
Por último, el Departamento de Lenguas Extranjeras, felicita a todos nuestros entrenadores y profesores de Spoken por su gran trabajo, motivación, esfuerzo y compromiso.
