In teaching mathematics, it is essential to use methodologies that make learning more meaningful and engaging for students. In our year 3 math class, we have approached teaching multiplication using a dynamic strategy based on learning stations. This methodology has allowed students to practice and internalize multiplication in a collaborative and playful way, which promotes a better understanding of mathematical concepts and the acquisition of skills.
The main objective of this activity was for students to practice and understand the concept of multiplication. To achieve this, different learning stations were organized, each offering various activities related to multiplication tables and mental calculation. The activity was aimed at all the students, who worked in small teams. This dynamic allowed them to learn cooperatively, share their knowledge, and support each other in overcoming the challenges presented at each station. Moreover, the active role of the teacher was crucial in guiding the teams and facilitating learning.
The use of learning stations to teach multiplication has proven to be an effective methodology for fostering dynamic and meaningful learning. Through this strategy, students have practiced multiplication in a fun, cooperative, and active manner, which has improved their understanding and motivation towards mathematics.
