At Julio Verne School, we believe that communication is the bridge to understanding, leadership, and personal growth. That’s why we proudly uphold one of our most beloved traditions: the Public Speaking Contest. This annual event not only highlights the creativity and talent of our students but also underscores the importance of public speaking skills, a vital ability that prepares them for a successful future.

The Legacy of our Public Speaking Contest

This 2-Minute Speeches Contest has become a cornerstone of our school culture. Every year, students from 5th grade Primary to 4th grade Secondary school levels take the stage to deliver powerful, concise speeches on topics previously chosen by a competent jury.  The two-minute time limit challenges them to capture attention, deliver their message within 3 reliable and well-prepared arguments, and leave an impact; all in just 120 seconds.

From thought-provoking speeches on global issues to heartfelt personal stories and creative takes on everyday topics, the contest is a celebration of individuality and expression. It’s also a reminder of the courage it takes to stand up and speak your mind. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?vanity=JulioVerneSchool&set=a.1150396023756051

Lessons Learned Beyond the Stage

The contest isn’t just about the speeches: it’s about the journey. Writing, refining, and presenting a speech teaches valuable skills that extend far beyond the competition such as time management, active listening, critical thinking  and collaboration  as all the  contestants are given  feedback from peers and teachers, creating a supportive and collaborative environment.

Why This Tradition Matters

Our Public Speaking  Contest is more than an event—it’s a platform for self-expression, a celebration of student voices, and a testimony to the value we place on communication skills. In a world where effective communication is a cornerstone of success, this tradition supplies our students with the tools they need to thrive.

Memorable Moments

Over the years, the contest has given rise to unforgettable speeches—some that made us laugh, others that moved us to tears, and many that left us with new ideas to consider. Each participant brings something unique to the stage, reminding us of the immense talent and potential within our school community. https://www.instagram.com/p/DDrg_qdtQof/?img_index=1
