This year, we are excited to introduce new workshops to the Blooming Brains Junior program, designed to provide meaningful learning experiences for our students. One of the most noteworthy additions is the Global Goals Team workshop, where students explore the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The aim is to emphasize how our actions can positively impact the planet and global coexistence.
During the first term, our students worked on several SDGs, including ending poverty, zero hunger, and good health and well-being. Through interactive sessions, they learned to identify global challenges related to poverty and hunger and the importance of adopting healthy habits to improve their overall well-being. They also explored topics such as affordable and clean energy and sustainable cities and communities. These activities included discussions on renewable energy, building paper windmills, and reflecting on small changes they can make in their daily lives to contribute to a more sustainable world.
In the second term, the focus will shift to equally relevant goals, such as quality education, gender equality, and peace, justice, and strong institutions. First and second graders will learn about inspiring stories, such as Malala Yousafzai’s, to understand the impact of education and the importance of advocating for gender equality. Additionally, they will participate in activities designed to reflect on justice and peace, strengthening their awareness of how to contribute to a fairer and more peaceful environment within their communities.
Teaching these global goals from an early age is essential, as these children represent the future. By understanding the challenges our world faces and how they can contribute to solutions, they develop empathy, critical thinking, and a sense of responsibility.
At Julio Verne School, we believe that educating our students on sustainability and global citizenship helps lay the foundation for a brighter and more equitable future. Together, we are shaping the citizens of tomorrow—agents of change ready to tackle the world’s challenges.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue building a better future with our Blooming Brains Junior program! 🌍✨
