Taking part in the AstiChallenge national robotics competition was an enriching and highly motivating experience for our school team, which competed with its robot “Voltage One.” This event, a benchmark in educational technology, tests not only students’ technical skills but also their ability to innovate, collaborate, and think about the future.

The competition was divided into seven challenges, designed to assess different robotics competencies. Some tasks required fully autonomous programming, while others allowed remote control. Our robot faced a wide range of challenges, such as knocking down bowling pins, playing golf, following a line, and transporting and loading objects, demonstrating versatility and precision in each test. These activities required effective integration of sensors, motors, and algorithms, as well as careful prior planning.

Beyond the practical challenges, the AstiChallenge included a broader task: contributing to a larger project focused on sustainability and the cities of the future. In this context, our team developed an innovative proposal that went beyond technical design to include key business and social aspects. Students had to analyze prototypes, calculate costs, study economic feasibility, and even seek funding through sponsorships, bringing them closer to a real-world technological entrepreneurship experience.

The project concluded with the submission of a detailed report and an oral presentation, where participants explained their ideas, justified their decisions, and answered questions from the judges. This phase helped develop communication skills and strengthened confidence in their work.

The team’s effort, dedication, and creativity were rewarded when our students Irene and Héctor received the “Best Project” award, recognizing not only the technical quality of their work but also the innovation and impact of their proposal.

Overall, participating in the AstiChallenge with “Voltage One” has been a comprehensive experience that combined technology, creativity, sustainability, and teamwork, leaving a very positive mark on the students and reinforcing their interest in STEAM disciplines.
